teeth whitening

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening and bleaching is often an ideal solution for patients who desire a whiter smile but whose teeth are in otherwise healthy condition.

What if I want whiter teeth but my tooth is chipped?

Patients whose teeth are chipped or cracked in addition to being discoloured may be better candidates for porcelain veneers or dental crowns.

Why are my teeth stained?

Patients whose teeth are discoloured or stained due to the natural ageing process, smoking, or drinking beverages such as coffee, tea, colas, and red wine are excellent candidates for tooth whitening and bleaching.

What if I have sensitive teeth or dental anxiety?

We are committed to providing professional treatment for all patients, including those with highly sensitive teeth and those with dental anxiety.

Do you offer Zoom! Teeth Whitening?

We are proud to offer teeth bleaching with the Zoom! Teeth Whitening System. In only one hour, the Zoom! in-office procedure can whiten teeth by an average of eight shades.

Do you offer Opalescence BOOST?

We are proud to offer teeth bleaching with the Opalescence BOOST! Teeth Whitening System. In only one hour, the Opalescence BOOST! in-office procedure can whiten teeth by an average of eight shades.

Can I whiten my teeth at home?

We also offer take-home whitening trays for patients who prefer to have their teeth whitened in the comfort of their own homes. Take-home trays are worn for approximately one to two weeks and can whiten teeth by an average of six shades.

Why should I talk to my dentist before teeth whitening?

Since some teeth whiteners can lead to damage and even tooth sensitivity, it’s important to have an initial consultation with your dentist. When you visit a Dental Choice office, we can discuss your desires, examine your teeth to see if whitening is a good option and help you choose the best product to restore your smile.

How long will the results last?

This varies from patient to patient and depends on the types of foods and drinks you consume in your daily diet. This also depends on your general oral hygiene practices. The results of teeth whitening should last up to one year. Again, depending on your daily habits, periodic treatments may be recommended for those who smoke or consume coffee, red wine, colas and other staining foods or beverages. Most people whiten again every six months.

With a quick visit to one of our offices, we can work together to safely restore your pearly-white smile. If a whitening treatment isn’t right for you, we can discuss alternative treatments, like dental bonding or veneers.
